Hold 'em Poker Nut Hands II - Straights Straights win a lot of pots in Texas Hold 'em Poker but not all straights are the nuts. In Texas Hold 'em Poker, you have the nuts when you have an ace high Broadway straight, any one of the five cards that make the straight in the hole, no pair or better on the board and no possibility of a flush. You also have the nut straight if your straight is king high or smaller, both of your hole cards play, both of your hole cards are higher than the bottom card of the straight, neither hole card is paired, there's no pair or better on the board, no possibility of a flush and no possibility of a higher straight. With a nut straight you will split the pot if one or more other players have the same hand. You cannot lose if all five cards of an ace high straight are on the board and there's no possibility of a flush. All the players who are in the hand at the showdown will split the pot. Scroll down through the examples below to get a better understanding of the nut straights in Texas Hold 'em Poker. |
