Hold 'em Poker Nut Hands III - Flushes When your ace high flush gets a lot of action it pays to take time to study the board. In Texas Hold 'em Poker, the nut flush is an ace high flush with the highest possible flush card in the hole, no pair or better on the board and no possibility of a straightflush. Sometimes, there is a flush on the board and it might be the best hand, but there cannot be a nut flush on the board. In Texas Hold 'em Poker there can be only one nut flush. | I had the misfortune of playing this hand myself. I bet my nut flush on the flop and the turn and there was only one other player still in the hand at the river. I bet and the other player immediately raised. I looked at the board and knew that a queen high straightflush was not possible because I had the ten of spades in the hole. I reraised and was immediately raised back. That poker room allowed unlimited raising on the river if there were only two players in the hand. I thought I had found a gold mine and raised several more times and each time the other player immediately raised me back. I finally took time to really study the board and decided to just call. Sure enough, I was shown the eight-five of spades! An oversight like that can completely wipe out an entire night's poker winnings. | |||||||||
